To preserve the Overfield Tavern Museum and its history, and provide the community a window into the early life of Troy.

 "Trains, Trees and Gingerbread"  November 11th  - December  10th  2006

          Mark your calendar for  this year's special  holiday  event   "Trains, Trees and Gingerbread" scheduled November 11- December 10th  on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5pm located on "History Corner" in Troy at  the corner of  North Mulberry and East Water .

         The train show features  operating model and toy trains, gingerbread houses, and holiday trees  decorated by area school children.

A special book signing  by local author and historian ,Scott Trostel ,author of  "The West Street Ambassadors"  a book about the WWII Troy railroad canteen, will be held  November 11 from 3-5 pm. An educational and fun event  for the entire family.

         The  Museum  of Troy History   located across the street is featuring a vintage toy exhibit "Toys of Yesterday" with a special visit by Santa on December 3 from 1pm-5pm.

        The Overfield Tavern Museum is one of Ohio's oldest taverns built in 1808 by Benjamin Overfield and is a   steeple notched two story log structure . The museum is predominately furnished in early ninetieth century time period Ohio antiques. The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays 1-5pm April 1st - December 10th or by appointment. The Overfield Tavern Museum  & Annex is located at 201& 121 East Water Street in Troy and is a non-profit museum ,a suggested  donation $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for students supports the  Overfield Tavern Museum and  future Overfield Annex exhibits.

2005 Exhibit Highlights

Rare American Quilts

This exhibit featured 21 unique, handmade, and original quilts provided by 8 area quilt collectors and the Overfield Tavern Museum Collection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pictured below is train exhibit volunteer, Norm Brown, with HO model train display provided by Whistle Stop Trains of Troy. The museum was also supported by three local designers: David Fair, Deborah DeCurtins, and Bob Patton, who decorated original holiday trees; and two area model train clubs, The Miami Valley Garden Railway and The Miami Valley “S” Gaugers.
